Welcome to our brand spanking new website to promote Clare Island in Clew Bay, Co. Mayo as an adventure destination. We are three local companies (Adventure West, Go Explore Hostel and Clare Island Ferry Company) who have joined forces and plan to work together as one team.
Our two-pronged mission is to pool resources to more effectively promote awareness of the island and all it offers, and to provide all-in packages to visitors to the island covering transport, accommodation and activities.
The hub of the adventure packages on offer will be Go Explore Hostel, which formerly operated as the island’s only hotel. In 2012 it was completely renovated and rebuilt as a modern hostel, and will provide a comfortable and welcoming base for those getting active on the island. With expansive sea vistas from its common room, and on-site Sailor’s Bar & Restaurant, guests are in for a superior hostel experience. Each dorm also offers sea views along with high quality ensuite facilities.
The activities are being provided by Adventure West, who have been offering adventure activities in the greater Clew Bay area since 2010. With their Clare Island Adventures cap on they’ll be offering snorkelling, coasteering, rock-climbing & abseiling, hiking and orienteering. Their team of instructors have a strong reputation for friendliness, safety-consciousness and gentle encouragement.
The operators have bundled packages to cater for a range of needs: corporate team building, hen and stag parties, school outings (from primary right up to third level) and sports teams of all disciplines. They’re also keen to hear from private groups and outdoor enthusiasts who’d like to arrange their own private get-away.
All packages will include return ferry with the Clare Island Ferry Company, who operate daily services to and from the island all year round. In addition to scheduled ferries, private trips can be arranged for groups.
